Summer Horizon

If I had this much grass in my yard I would be cutting it day and night. But the nearby folks who have this kind of property usually have a cow, or two, or more around to keep it grazed.

    • I imagine you have as many of these open pastures around where you like as I do…They’re sure nice aren’t they when you can just watch the cows grazing.

  4. This looks like a good place to test rockets. I hope it isn’t too far from the beach house.

    • No, it’s not far from your beach house. Your house faces the ocean, behind you house about 1/4 mile is a main road. Right across the road is the field before it run into the sound. And there is plenty of room for you to test out your rockets…Just be careful not to burn the grass with the rocket sparks.

I look at this grassy field and smile. I love the idea of cows, horse or sheep keeping it cut.
Yesterday while driving home I saw some deer grazing in an alfalfa field. My thoughts said they were tending to the farmer’s field for him, so in spring the renewal would begin.

    • They are helping when they graze. And for what they don’t graze, the farmer will put in bales so they can feed them trough the winter months. It works out so well.
I’m glad you like the painting, thanks for commenting, Raven…It’s always a joy for me when you visit!

    • It’s very beautiful country here…Actually there is much forest all around me, but some of the neighbors use there land for farming and have rid their land of trees so they can do so. I love walking by them and feeling like I’m bigger world than I realize….The same sort of feeling I get at the beach, only dry.

  15. I love the way you captured the subtle colors of the sky in this one instead of the bright primaries. This is a lovely calming scene that should go on a CD cover for a beautiful nature soundtrack 🙂

  19. Is this a new style for you, Deb? I love the sunsetty bits in the sky and the texture of the pathway through the pasture looks almost furry! 🙂

    • Yes, it is. I’ve been working with digital painting these days. I wanted the grass to look like it needed cutting…natural.
