Bush Lake

Bush Lake

Ever since I tried my piece from my post “Learning Watercolors”, I have been eager to try my hand at another with still water reflection. I also thought I’d see what would happen if I had a little color in the sky, as well as putting it in the reflection.

Created on 140lb. water press paper.

You have given a masterful depiction of the reflection in this one! I love the curve to the hill. If it had been a photo I would have thought it was done with a fish eye lens. Excellent!

Is it from a fish-eye lens, or did you do it from imagination? It’s very pretty!

  4. This is from imagination, no lens.
Lay the watercolor wash in for the sky and water, then lay in the treeline, and the for ground. Lay in the water, the reflection of the treeline with the same colors used for the original treeline, and don’t for get the reflection of any flowers, as I did. This one is quite easy to do.

  5. I like the roundness in this painting, Debbie. It gives me the feeling that the earth is reaching out to hug us.

  6. This one speaks to me Debbie, the colours and curvature create a mood of peace and tranquility, or perhaps that’s just me. Very nice enigmatic work.

    • I had mentioned once that I like to be at peace when I work, and if there are people around me when I work, then they would have to be at peace, or at least in a peaceful mood in order for me to work effectively. This was one of those days. So you see, it’s not you, you have just seen in the painting the mood I was in.
It is good to see you Keith, and thank you for the comment!

  7. I really like the curve of the land. It’s like you were looking through one of those garden gazing balls. The still water reflecting the sky is lovely.
