Still fighting the urge to eat the ice cream calling me in the freezer I decided to just keep my mind on fruit….Yeah right! So I attempt another piece of fruit while working with my oil pastels and low and behold, and a big “Hallelugh” I get a break-through. I feel I have created a much more realistic piece.
Using oil pastels beginning with white in the center, then overlaying a a thin layer of tan. Still working outward but further from the center I add a thin layer of the lightest orange, a bit further out a layer of a darker orange then browns. Blending from the center outward being careful not to get more than a touch of color in the white I blended outwardly. For the background I lay my white in the area I want lightest then applied the color blending working from the lightest area toward the darker areas. Added shadows under and around the pear last.

/ January 28, 2011Debbie! You go girl! This is beautiful. Not only is the pear absolutely glowing but the background color is perfect for this. I also like that hint of a white line running behind the left side of the pear and fading out on the right side. Nice touch.
Get rid of the temptation!!!!! The ice cream and the syrup……

I’ll get over the temptation. I do every year. lol.

Wonderful job on bringing beautiful light and life to this still life. But did someone say Ice Cream!

/ January 31, 2011Sure did, Ryan. I said, “ice cream”, I love the stuff, and can tell you are a fan of the cold, sweet, creamy stuff yourself. I could eat a whole 1/2 gallon if my hubby didn’t put the brakes on me. lol. Guess he wants this old lady to keep her waistline.
Thanks for the comment, Ryan!!
