  1. Yayyy!!! I’m First to Comment!!! LOL!!!

Sorry for not commenting earlier – I overslept because I didn’t use the nasal spray to clear my nose and had a broken night’s sleep as a result…

Love and squishy hugs my friend!

I had a feeling something was a bit different with you…I thought you may have been ill. Not getting enough sleep is about the same thing as being sick, since it plays such havoc on our whole being….Don’t forget to use it for your next sleep.
Glad you made it in here…Hope this page open faster than the previous guestbook…It got rather full.

Love and squishy hugs, my friend!

  2. Hi hun! 🙂

Yes the spray is useful, but not for long-term use I’m afraid… 😦

Yes money does tend to rule us doesn’t it? 😦

On the bright side I had plenty of margin so the rent hike didn’t catch me unawares – but it would have been nice to have been TOLD there was a rent rise coming…

Hope the painting went well! 🙂

Thanks hun – that hug felt good! 🙂

I was printing today’s mail when the printer ran out of ink.

I have a spare cartridge, but it failed to work – a quick examination showed it had been sabotaged!

I’ve ordered a new cartridge, but it’ll be 3 to 5 working days before it shows up.

    Bummer…

Oh well: It can wait until next fortnight… 🙂

    Love and hugs!

Money, money…A very useful tool if we can get our hands on it.

Still painting…I’m working on it. I’ve got a few others done already, but don’t want to post them all at once…That would be mean for my loyal readers to have to make so many comments.

Out of ink, eh…Hate the short warning it gives us…Like none. I guess if you want to print all your mail you will just have to hang tight till the ink arrives. Don’t run out of paper.

Yeah, they landlord could have at least told you guys last month that it was going to go up a few bucks the following month…What’ with people?

I’m glad I sent you that hug when I did…Sounds like you needed just when you got it. 🙂

We’re thinking about getting a pizza for dinner tonight…Sound good to me.

  3. I used the Nasal spray last night and slept very well, even getting up before 9am! 🙂

I now have to go shopping and put money in the Bank later, but I’m leaving it until lunch time to make sure I won’t have problems with needing the loo…

Sounds like you have found your inner muse! 🙂

Hope the pictures come out well…

What annoys me is that I bought another cartridge, but when I came to use it I found it had been sabotaged! 😦

I always have a spare pack of paper – It’s cheap and easy to pick up one from Wilkinsons – but I won’t use the stuff on offer at the Post Office because it’s full of paper dust…

From the look of it the rent went up in the last Quarter, but I’m £176 ahead so it didn’t cause me any problems! 🙂

    Yeah I needed a hug! 🙂

Pizza is good, unless you have to live on them – in which case you become a blubber butt like me! 🙂

    Love and hugs my friend!

    • Glad you got a good night sleep…Not enough sleep is bad for our thoughts.

It’s all that tea you drink in the morning. :-)…Kidding.

I think you may be right. I seem to do a little better with them.

What picture?….Oh, you mean the painting.

Who do you think hurt it?…..Never mind, I know who.

We get our printer paper at Walmart…Do you have Walmart’s out there?

Thank goodness you were a head some money.

Sometimes something inside me tells me to send one…I don’t know why, and don’t questions it. I figure He know why.:-)

We don’t have pizza very often…Must be why it always sounds good when we do.

      Lot’s of email today?

  4. Hi hun! 🙂

I decided to go shopping a bit earlier than planned – I was a bag of nerves, but OK once I got out of the flat.

I ran into Doug – he’s got his hooks into our new neighbour Tony – and he asked if Tony could use my phone to contact repairs as he has a leak under his sink!

I did the honours and then took a ride into Middleton to do my shopping.

I spent more than I planned, but still saved money – crazy huh? 🙂

The cartridge was available to ‘a certain unnamed person’, but I have no proof…

We have a number of big stores including a new ‘Tescos’ which now dominates the town centre, but I haven’t been in yet.

These giant stores are taking over the country…

Yeah: I’ve not been able to get to church for a few weeks, so I’m low on my hug quota! 🙂

I love ordering take-out, but it’s bloody expensive and these days they cut back on everything, so it’s not worth the money…

I had 126 emails this morning, down from the 200+ I was getting because Sarah got freshly pressed, so I just did them in two sittings…

Love and huge hugs my friend! 🙂

    • At least you got your shopping done and over with…With a little savings to top is like a cherry.

Theses big store are taking over…We have plenty of them here too.

Here is some 3 hugs for you now, to help bring up the quota. 🙂

We rarely get take out, and never go to restaurants at all….Well, maybe once a year, but it’s a buffet with a set price.

It would take me a week to handle the email you get in a day…So I would get very behind.

Love and Hugs,…ah, that another one! 🙂

I want to thank you for all your kind comments and visits to Ravenwood. It is a treasure to find such friendships as yours Deb, and I a pleased to call you my dear friend.
BTW I live in Utah in the Southeast area, where I am in a hidden valley at the foothills of 4 canyons. In any direction I go there is pretty much wilderness whether it is desert, red rock mesas or in primitive Alpine like mountains I wish to see. There are less than 2,000 people here, no fast food or franchise Markets or Shopping Malls. This can be limiting but on the other hand it is beautiful here.
I am about 2 hours from the Urban areas up North, which suits me fine.

Utah! That’s right, maybe it’s the four letter that stuck in my head, and ended up guess Iowa.
It sounds very beautiful where you live. I don’t blame you for being away from so much, “so called,” civilization. It’s much nicer in remote places.
I too am in a remote place, but I do have and local grocery store and one fast joint. It’s mostly just trees all around me out here. But in the Spring and Summer when I go to Hatteras where we keep our 5th wheel, that place it busier with folks in the summer for the beach, but not too much. Not like a lot of beaches. This place is more remote, harder to get to. Not just a day trip would do the trick to enjoy the beach, planning to do a weekend of in or longer would be the only way. There are no franchise joint out there either.
I’m glad you stopped in. It gave us a both a chance to learn a bit more of each other and our surroundings.
Hugs, to you, my feathery friend!

The weather tonight is talking -5’C and we have snow forecast for the next 24 hours so I should be waking to a winter wonderland.

Sorry Debbie, you are right: Words DO have power…

I got a good look at my new neighbour Tony when he borrowed my phone and he’s sunken – eyed, gaunt and covered in home made tattoos.

If he isn’t a criminal junkie (I’ve known a few) then I’ll be amazed.

    I just hope he’s getting treatment…

  28. Are you now! We are expecting a bit of a snowy mix Saturday and or, Sunday.

Yes, they are power. God created with His Word, He created us in His image. The words we speak to others and to ourselves carry more power than most of us, including me, think about have the time.

New neighbor?…He don’t sound like one you want to get to close to. Give it time before you jump right in to be chummy with him…He sounds like, if nothing else, a man with an undesirable past…But what do I know….If he does drugs or drinks, I’d stay away from him… always hope they’d get treatment, but they have to want to help themselves first.

Stay warm, door locked, proper meds, and last but last least…Love and Hugs to you!

Thankfully I’ve taken care to be well protected from the threats on the web, but even so I’ve almost been caught out a time or three…

Tony is an enigma and I have no plans to get close to him – friends like him I can do without and ditto Doug! 😦

Hackers…I agree with on that one!

More often than not the only way we learn is by our own experience. But please do know realize that alcoholics and drug addicts are all alike, though they claim to be different from each other, except for the ones that suffer both, and are on their way to a more sober life….If this new guy is an drug or alcoholic then he, if not right away, in time, would be treating you the same way Doug did, with the same drama….Remember what I taught you, they are not unique.

Stay safe, stay warm, and keep the addicts on the other side of your door.

Yeah I’m a complete coward after all I’ve been through, but I still manage to do what I have to… 🙂

Hard to believe that, thirteen years ago, Becky was used as bait in a honey trap after I came out of psychiatric hospital only for me to pass with flying colours.

Now she’s a mom and what she so badly needs is somebody who can look after her kids – and she only has Pat to rely on now because I’m too screwed up – ironic given I am now CRB checked and cleared to work with the elderly, disabled, vulnerable adults and children.

The problem is raised liver enzymes, so she needed more blood TODAY and once done she gave me a talk on cholesterol and apparently I’m doing most of the right things, but I need to eat more fruit and veggies – not easy given that the only decent source of fresh fruit and veg is the Co-Op who charge the maximum rate and benefits don’t stretch that far.

If my cholesterol hasn’t dropped by August she’s going to put me on statins.

He left me alone for a few weeks and thinks that, because I helped him when his electricity was cut off because he hadn’t bought enough credit, that he can go back to the way things were before he began making passes at me.

I think he is going to be vereeee disappointed!!! LOL!!!

    • Prenin, if you buy his electric, then he won’t have to. If he didn’t buy booze he would have the money to buy the electric himself. You have to force his to stand on his own two feet. And if he doesn’t then he will hit rock bottom, which is what he needs to become sober. Give him ZERO. I know it’s hard because of our nature to want to help, but an alcoholic must be treated hard in order to get well. And even if he doesn’t get well he will always rely on you cover him on something…always. and it will get worse…I’m going to take you over my knee if you don’t get this.

Turns out they were debiting his credit to pay the standing charge for the service, not just for the electricity he was using, so when they debited his credit he was left with no electricity.

Needless to say he came knocking on my door yesterday to borrow money, but I said no and told him I needed it for medical reasons! 🙂

    • Have you thought of complaining to your apartment manager about him pestering you…Maybe they will evict him for bothering good tenants.

Anyway, all they do is lie, they can’t help it, they just do…and don’t feel sorry for them for it. He’s just a common alcoholic that is not unique

Here let me try to explain them another way:

You know what a Zombie is…right? Same body as the once lovable person, but the once lovable person does not seem to live in that body anymore. Further more, being a Zombie it acts just like other Zombies…all the same, and not unique from on another and they all desire the same thing…to eat you up alive.
So…just like a Zombie the Alcoholic has the same body (sorta) but their minds have been taken from them by Alcohol, and their only desire is their drink and will lie constantly to get what they want. their drink, their drink, their drink.
Doug does not care about you, he never has. His only motive to to see what funds he can get out of you to make his drinking life come a bit easier. Even if all he could get you to provide some household needed item or utility it is one less thing he has to buy so he can drink….His drink, Prenin. that’s all he cares about.
Oh, and him sobbing over his deceased daughter (if that even be true) is just another roost to get you to feel sorry for him so you will help him, so he does not have to help himself….Remember, he has only ONE (1) motive, and that is to drink….ESPECIALLY, at your EXPENSE.

There’s been no sign of Doug today, so if he flashed that highly illegal switchblade in the Job Centre he’s most likely being detained by the forces of law and disorder.

        • He first found out you give out money through Doug.

Just as a Zombie there is only one way to rid of them…like you said. “Shoot them in the head.” Instead with an alcoholic you do the one thing that will off them….You deny them of what they want…see what I’m getting at? The are not unique…same and possessed by a drink that makes all of them behave the same.

I actually hope he would do that, because getting arrested would be the best thing that ever happened to him…and for you. Now don’t go thinking I’m mean…this is what you call, “tough love.”

In other words, they can be drunks and addicts if they want, but you train them not to bother you.

          Love and Hugs,
          Deb

PS Don’t you give one cent or Euro or, whatever you call your change to that other guy either…don’t do it, or you will have a pack of hungry cats at your door, and they will spread the word that you are free money if you bug the guy enough.

    • I know you have been loosing weight, but read your package’s ingredients to make sure they’re low in saturated fats and sodium. Sodium can cause high blood pressure which is not good for anyone, but giving your symptoms you need to be a wee bit more careful…ok
I know it is not easy to get the fruits, veggies and nuts we needs…at least not on a regular basis due to the rising prices. But what you can afford eat in moderation if they are high in those things. It would be very good for you to not intake more than 25mg of saturated fat in one day. Also, lots of water…at least 8 glasses a day. And since you like tea…get some green tea, even if only one cup a day..

That is just like a government…all controlling.

Doug got home Monday night and is avoiding me.

Guess Mister ‘Control Freak’ and bullying coward didn’t slash his wrists and more likely got picked up by the Police! 🙂

I’m not going to ask him what happened – like you said: He’d be back trying to manipulate and sponge off me in a trice if I even LOOK concerned – but on the plus side if he DID get arrested for possession of a deadly weapon then his trial will be the least of his woes.

Here in the UK possession of a knife with intent to endanger life is a five year stretch at a minimum unless he gets a good lawyer – and a public defender is not what you’d call good or else they’d be raking it in.

Nope: Looks like I’m going to end up with a new neighbour come summer…

What sounds great to is that he may be gone by summer.

Your public defenders sound like our….so underpaid that they go through effortless motions just to get their pay checks.

I didn’t know you stopped drinking, not that you drank much to begin with. But that was a good idea….good for your heart.
I just don’t think you should have to go through the discomfort with your heart if you are doing your part…there must be something they can give you to keep it from happening, or to lessen the degree that it does happen.

  60. Hi Debs! 🙂

Yeah I’m watching the saturated fats closely – biggest problem is that the margarine I use has just 25% the saturated fat of butter, but doesn’t actually say HOW MUCH it contains…

There’s a brand of margarine on sale which reduces cholesterol called Benecol, but it’s three times as expensive as Margarine and not sold in all shops.

The ready meals average 4.5grams of fat per serving, so I’m able to monitor how much I eat.

The plastic tray is made of black PETE, but the council don’t recycle them.

We can’t recycle card and paper because of the risk of arson which is a BIG problem around here as we have three teenage firebugs who even set curtains alight if the window is open! 😦

The Police can’t do anything until some major damage is done, or somebody dies, in which case they can allocate resources to the investigation.

Right now the government is cutting Police funds by 20% because of the depression which means a big drop in Police numbers.

We have PCSO’s (Police Community Support Officers) who are powerless, although they CAN call for Police help if they run into a crime usually involving our teenage hellions.

Back when they were first introduced the press laid out exactly what powers they had, so now the kids just laugh at them.

Truth is that they are just policing on the cheap to make up for a lack of Police numbers…

    • Doesn’t the Margarine have a chart on the side of the container where it list the fat.
Prenin, butter is healthier for you than that stuff you are using, even if it does have less fat.
      Here is the difference.
Butter: The fat that is natural
Bencol: The fat is man made. it also contain Partially Hydrogenated soybean oil which is very bad for you.

It’s better to use the butter…in moderation. The other stuff overtime is bad on your heart.

Remember this when you shop. The label on the front is to get people to buy it (generally lies). The label on the side tell all. Not just the calorie, fats and sugar part, but the “INGREDIENTS.”

Sound like you part is to the world is in about as bad as shape as ours.

  62. I agree Doug may be setting up to borrow from me again, I had the same problem with Darrell who was also alcoholic and I looked after him after his stroke!

In eleven months Darrell would borrow £10, pay you back promptly at first, then only pay half of what he owed before borrowing still more.

He died owing me £176, John £300, Mark £200.

And that was AFTER repaying me £108 because he wanted to lure me to his bungalow so I would teach him to use his computer! 😦

Now I have Doug going the same way…

I feel great now the Aspartame is out of my system – hard to believe they’d sell a chemical so widely as a food additive that is actually VERY bad for you!!!

    Oh. Yeah.

    • Prenin, let this list of guys that have not ever paid you back be a lesson for you.
Doug would truly die owning you, or move away owing you. Remember….everything he does and says is only a plan for his next drink….that’s is the only way he knows how to think…he can’t help it, the alcohol does all his thinking for him.
If he wants to give you money back, let him, but mark my words…If he gave you only some of the money back he owed you and wants to borrow again, and you say know, he will try to make you feel guilty about it…..Don’t you let it! He may never give you another pence as a result, but don’t give him anymore money.

Lots of things in foods are bad for us…like that the stuff in margarine for example, which is artery clogging.
I’m just glad you figured out what it was….good job, my friend!

  65. Hi Debs! 🙂

Just dropping by to tell you the arrhythmia has stopped and so have the palpitations.

Aspartame definitely was the source of the problem! 😦

I checked the fruit juice I normally buy as a shopping treat and it too contained Aspartame, so I just bought Lager instead – if I allow myself two cans per day I’ll be under the limit and still have something other than endless cups of tea to enjoy… 😛

The trouble with having an alcoholic next door is that you become very paranoid about your own drinking habits…

Looks like I had a good shopping day though – lots of good food and I avoided the rain which is dotting my window as I write.

I can’t afford to go to church on Sunday, but once I have some money put aside (Providing I don’t need an ultrasound scan) I’ll go make an appearance at church.

The news is full of reports on metal thieves ripping the lead off church roofs across the country which really burns my butt because now insurers are proving unwilling to pay out for the extensive repairs!!!

There’s a possibility of roofs being repaired with steel coloured to look like lead, but it’s untested…

    Love and hugs!

  67. Hi hun!

I may have spoken too soon: I had palpitations last night when i lay on my left side, but nothing as bad as before.

I lay on my right side and had a good night’s sleep though, so it could just be that I’m not free of the Aspartame just yet.

Worst case could be that I have the arrhythmia and it’s varying day to day, but there’s a heck of a lot of information on the web about Aspartame – shocking amounts – but Snopes says that it’s false.

    Who do you trust???

  69. Hi Debs! 🙂

I had a lot of anxiety attacks yesterday, but was able to sleep on my left side without any heart problems.

Aspartame MAY be the problem, but it’s too early to tell.

The stuff is not supposed to be heated above 86’C because it then breaks down, but if you were OK with it then maybe you weren’t sensitive to it or it simply didn’t happen in a bad way – although they DID warn against using it in baked goods…

Heart problems come to us all hun – as I get panic and anxiety attacks I have been more prone to them because they put additional stress on your heart.

Always glad to visit Debs – and I love the emails! 🙂

I suffered with panic attacks for over 15 years, maybe a bit longer….didn’t record the dates. Anyway, during those years my heart seemed to suffer so much more, even when I was not having attacks I seemed to have my share of troubles.

I love visiting you too, Prenin, and all the emails and forwards you sent me…some are real hoots too!…lol

Explaining to people about the confusion, anxiety, disorientation, vomiting and mind storms that go with them is sometimes difficult because they have no points of reference.

I’m glad you started to feel better today and able to eat a hot meal. Keep getting better, Prenin.

I ran into Lillian and she was finding it hard to breath in the warm weather.

It was my first day out since i took ill, but I got my milk, lottery tickets and medical supplies so I should be OK for another four days! 🙂

I’ll let you know how I go, but so far it’s looking good… 🙂

Thanks for the best wishes and the card – I look pretty green around the gills myself! 🙂

Whatever it is, it isn’t ‘flu.

I have had endless colds and been fine, had the ‘flu and pneumonia and didn’t feel half as sick as I have since this started on Wednesday.

I need to be up at 8.15am to get a doctors appointment and right now I’m sleeping up to 12 hours at a time so it isn’t possible.

Even if I did manage to contact the doctor I would be told not to come in as this would spread the infection – I have an NHS information leaflet on the subject.

    Love and hugs!

  99. The NHS is the National Health Service that Cameron is trying so hard to destroy.

He’s trying to make a business out of it so his backers can make more money.

The big thing was his Deputy treasurer was caught asking for large donations to the Conservative party in return for access to the Prime Minister, so he’s resigned and the Conservatives are trying to perform an internal enquiry so they can sweep it under the carpet.

This has to have been the most corrupt government we’ve ever had this century….

Mum isn’t well up on PC’s and I can’t trust my step-dad with my personal stuff, both my brothers live too far away and everyone around me would sell my secrets to the press and media as soon as they got access to my PC, so getting anyone to tell you is pretty much impossible…

On the bright side I’m recovering a day at a time so please don’t worry!!! 🙂

    Love and poorly hugs!

    • Your government sounds as screwed up as ours….their crooks.

I’ll try not to worry, but we have got to find someone you trust to give my email to to let me know how your are if something were to happen to you…someone at the church maybe. I know you will be able to think of someone.

Meanwhile…I’ll try not to worry if your are getting better each day. But Prenin. I have known you about a year give or take and your have been sick so many times. How can I not worry about you some.

      You just keep getting better.

Yeah I feel a lot better today, but still coughing gunk up and feeling pretty weak.

I agree Debs, but I’ve already made it clear to him I want no part of him, hence the ‘jokes’…

The special word has been used and now he gets no more help from me! 🙂

Glad you made it back to the island OK – you are so lucky to have two homes! 🙂

Glad to hear you are using the word we talked about….He’ll need to hear it often.

Two home have been nice, but one of them has got to go…we can’t afford both. We listed the house and hope for the best. If it sells, maybe we can find another house here, then sell the camper….It’s in God’s hands now.

Don’t sell too cheap though – house prices here dropped after the Bank crash and I have friends who would have to make a loss if they were to move…

        Love and hugs always!

        • I figure if God wants me to live here, then he will find a descent buyer for the house, otherwise…it’s not His plan for me. And His plans are better and safer than what I could ever drum up.
I do know that I can’t afford the house if something were to happen to Mitch. So one way or another…it’s got to go.

  101. Hi Debs! 🙂

No worries about playing catch-up I’ll still be here when you get round to it! 🙂

Today I just have a sore throat and a cough, the worst of the symptoms having faded! 🙂

    I guess I’m beating it!!! 🙂

Can’t seem to keep warm though, so I guess I’m not 100% yet…

Day by day, in every way, I’m getting better and better! 🙂

It’s 4.44am here and I have to be up until at least 6am because I’m pushing the clock as my medication day was Friday and I was too ill to go get it.

Right now I don’t feel tired, just very feverish and I have a bit of a dry cough…

    Love and hugs! 🙂

  104. Hi hun! 🙂

Yes, even the cough is improving and I’m bringing up less crap and it’s white now, not green, so it looks like the infection has pretty much gone! 🙂

Tomorrow I have to go get my meds so I’m going to try to stay awake until 9.30am, phone for my meds, if they’re ready I’ll then go collect them! 🙂

They really are an incompetent bunch of twonks, but they’re the only show in town…

  105. Hi Debs! 🙂

Yeah I’m feeling better – coughing less – and I’m past the fever stage so no need to dry my pillows.

I agree about listening to my gut!

At the moment I have room to maneuver, so I’m focussing on getting the editing done and making it readable for Red.

Once the die is cast I’ll have no way back to my comfortable lifestyle so I want to be damned sure that I’m going to be OK when I make the final step…

Ho hum – nobody said life was going to be easy – and I must admit the thought of rubbing dad’s face in it does have rather a lot of charm! 🙂

Aww, Prenin, you don’t need to rub his nose in it. You’re above that, and surely above him. Don’t worry, he will have to answer to God for all of his pretreatments to you.

Rom 12:18 If it is possible, as far as is in you, being in peace with all men.
Rom 12:19 not avenging yourselves, beloved, but giving place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”
Rom 12:20 Therefore if your enemy hungers, feed him. If he thirsts, give him drink. For in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head.
Rom 12:21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

      You heard the Man! 🙂
