I make no promises that I’m done painting sheep yet…they are fun to paint and they make me smile. I will try to give you a break from them in between other artwork. But know this…I appreciate all you who have been commenting on my artwork.

I re-created this sheep from an image I found on public domain some time ago. Thanks first to my friend Prenin for telling me who the sheep looked like, and then Tony McGurk for pointing me in the right direction of who did this sheep first, which is…http://www.shaunthesheep.com/

How cute is that? Looks like it’s watching a football game. Adorable, Deb :-)

    It’s a sheep invasion!
This one looks like he should be the star of a children’s picture book.
He also reminds me of those sleep-sheep for that mattress company.

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 8:20 am #

Yes, they have been invading my mind lately…It’s all Dink’s fault.
      Star!!! I’ll go for that!
Oh yeah, for a great night’s sleep.
This one reminds me of the many running through my head lately.
      Thanks Binky!
      Hugs, xx

      Have a wonderful weekend too!

  11. bearman February 24, 2012 at 9:08 am #

Love the sheep. I think you should hide one in every one of your paintings.

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 9:26 am #

That’s a thought….they do make me smile. But I don’t know. Maybe once I’ve saved the first painting, then add the sheep to it later….like I did with the Wombies.
      Thanks Bearman!
      Hugs, xx

  12. prenin February 24, 2012 at 10:13 am #

      • Tony McGurk February 25, 2012 at 12:00 am #

I’ve seen Shaun Sheep. He was a spin off from the Wallace & Grommit series hwere he appeared in the episode “A Close Shave”

        • Deb February 25, 2012 at 12:27 pm #

Oh my goodness. I had found this cute sheep image in public domain, which seems like eons ago, planning to paint it one day. Now I know who it is. I’m going to make a minor adjustment in my post.
          Thanks Tony!
          Hugs, xx

  13. Wayside Artist February 24, 2012 at 10:55 am #

Oh my gosh!!! I love this happy, relaxing sheep. You’re putting big smiles on my face, so I hope you paint a few more. Oh, and Deb, the grass…it’s awesome, from the foreground detail to the fading toward the back. I LOVE it! :D :D

    Have a happy, bucolic weekend!

    Hugs to you and Cici!

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 1:34 pm #

Oh good, it made you smile! It was worth painting it just for that then! I work at that grass now. I wanted the background to look a little distant and the blades up front to be larger.

A happy bucolic weedend…I have to admit, i had to look up bucolic for not knowing what you meant.
I know now. And thank you too!

You have a great day now!
Love and Hugs, from me and Cici

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 1:36 pm #

      Thank you, Cat!
You link it back to this post and that will be fine with me.
You’re welcome, my friend. I am so glad I painted this one just for all the smiles it brings, and knowing it made you smile warmed my heart!
      Hugs, xx

  15. Ras Alonso February 24, 2012 at 11:26 am #

Thats how to relax sheep :-) All you need is a picnic basket.

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 1:38 pm #

Well it’s never too late to add a picnic basket. I always say, “Art is never done, but a progression.”
      Thanks, Ras!

  16. Miro February 24, 2012 at 11:32 am #

  17. Bo Lumpkin February 24, 2012 at 1:25 pm #

This is fantabulous. LOL. I really would like to see a Children’s book with this guy tellin’ the story as narrator… I love your Folk Art.

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 1:42 pm #

Okay, now I didn’t know if this one was classified as Folk art or not…is it?
So glad you like it, Bo! Maybe one day it will get in a children’s book….you never know.

      Hugs, xx

  18. dontchawannadream February 24, 2012 at 2:42 pm #

    Awww. What a cutie!
I want more paintings of it! :p
Hey you should start your own comic series, Deb!

    • Deb February 24, 2012 at 4:05 pm #

I would have to keep making them, always looking about the same…Don’t know if I could pull it off, or come up with the cute lines that make or break a comic.
      Thanks Cha!
      Hugs, xx

      • Tony McGurk February 25, 2012 at 12:06 am #

I was about to say the same thing then I noticed dontchawannadream’s comment. Comics are easy, if I can do it anybody can.

      • Deb February 25, 2012 at 12:38 pm #

I would think one would have to be good at coming up with a punch line, Tony.
        You’re comic is awesome!
BTW: Thanks for pointing me in the right direction on Shaun. I edited post my post…Did you see?
        Hugs, xx
